What SEBI registration is

SEBI registers specific categories of market participants: brokers, RIAs (investment advisors), Portfolio Managers (PMS), Mutual Funds, AIFs, etc. Each registration corresponds to a specific regulated activity.

Is Sleeping Trade SEBI-registered?

No — because the activities we perform (software execution in a user's own account) do not fall into a SEBI-registered category. We are not an RIA. We are not a PMS. We are not a broker. We are a software platform that operates through SEBI-regulated brokers.

What that means for you

Your money is protected by your broker's SEBI registration, not by ours. The broker is the SEBI-regulated entity that holds your funds. If anything ever happened to Sleeping Trade, your capital and trading history would remain intact at your broker.

How to evaluate us

Since we're not SEBI-registered in a category, the way to evaluate us is: transparency of pricing, quality of documentation, track record (5+ months live), and whether the technical setup keeps your money with your broker at all times. All four are explicit in our disclosures.
